A job for “Pacioli“: How a robot can reduce the team’s workload.
A robot as a colleague? Even though Pacioli is not quite as tangible, the results from the RPA software certainly are.
Robotic process automation (RPA) transposes manual tasks into robotic ones.
By means of artificial intelligence, RPA software Pacioli undertakes routine tasks at EOS Matrix in Bulgaria.
The automation saves time and is designed to reduce the employees’ workload.
Over 200 years ago in England, enraged textile workers stormed through the spinning mills and destroyed looms – automation had cost them their jobs and livelihoods. The team at EOS Matrix in Bulgaria reacted in a more level-headed manner when a robot by the name of “Pacioli” was introduced to them as their new colleague a few months ago. Their skepticism quickly gave way to a certain sense of pride, says Maria Avramova, jointly responsible for marketing at EOS in Sofia.
The software is an example of robotic process automation and is named after mathematician and Franciscan friar Luca Pacioli, who is considered the “Father of Accounting” in Europe. Combined with artificial intelligence (AI), robotic process automation, or RPA for short, represents one of the most important IT trends at the present time.
RPA: Technology takes on human interaction.
By learning and imitating human user input, RPA systems undertake routine tasks that would otherwise have to be executed manually. In companies, this could be copying customer data into an input screen, for example. At EOS Matrix in Sofia, the technology automates the otherwise time-consuming processing of incoming invoices.
A team of Bulgarian developers tailored Pacioli to EOS. By means of artificial intelligence, the software learned the work processes of the human employees. Thanks to Pacioli, they now have an average of two and a half hours more per day, says Avramova. Therefore, no one feels their own work has been cut back. On the contrary: “The staff feel more secure.”
The robot as a “colleague” leaves more time for essential tasks.
Pacioli plows through 600 invoices an hour – and makes fewer mistakes. The employees still have their jobs and now they have more time to concentrate on analytical tasks.
